Weaving the Iliad
'Weaving the Iliad’ is a creative response to reading the Iliad and attempting to find my way into this historically hardened text. I used weaving to find the flow of the epic, and to understand some of the lessons the story offers.
Each weave marks a different way of reading the text.
Weave 1 encounters the text as a shifting movements of knots and tensions, flows and release, poolings, gestures of gods and humans.
Weave 2 finds the promises and oaths laced throughout the text, and the rippling of action stemming from these moments.
Weave 3 explores the notion of epic as great mycelial networks embedded in the story’s landscape.
